What to Expect in Your First Tajweed Lesson
A first Tajweed lesson is usually a friendly assessment, not an exam. Your teacher listens to how you recognise letters, join words, and apply the rules you already know, then chooses the right starting point.
A short recitation assessment
The teacher may ask a beginner to read from Qaida or an experienced student to recite a familiar surah. This helps identify pronunciation patterns and decide which skills need the most attention.
Clear, focused correction
Good correction is specific and manageable. Rather than interrupting every word, the teacher will often focus on one or two recurring points and model the sound before asking the student to repeat it.
